What is the best way to remove brake drum from the hub? Thanks in advance

Have it done by a shop that has done it before, knows what they are doing and has the tools (which includes a 20 ton press). Put your general location in your profile and maybe someone can recommend a good shop.

As most drums are not worth saving at this point so a carbide tipped hole saw that just fits over the stud to cut the swedged part away, knock the studs out (don't go too deep), drop a few times on the cement and the hub will pop out. (drum side down)

If you are having new drums put on, ether send the hubs out or read Charlie's post. If you are having a shop/you do the reinstall, make sure they/you check run out on the flange. Most of the time it will need a few 1000's clean up. Also, Google :Fordbarn; cast iron drum install", that should pull up lots of good info that has been posted here. Don't forget new drums need to be cleaned up to center and turned to correct inside diameter. (parking brakes too)

Be very careful where you take the drum to have the job done. This is a lost art and a commercial shop can easily warp the hub rendering it unserviceable. Take it to a knowledgeable Model A brake person like Randy Gross. The swage on the lugs should be undercut before they are pressed out. The area directly under each lug should be closely supported while being pressed out.

I had my brakes redone by Randy Gross and he is a great craftsman, he mounted new drums for me and they turned out great.
