'39-'40 trunk mat in a '37 ?

Hey Guys ! Does anyone offer a trunk mat for a '37 coupe ? I have not seen any available for '37 . So, has anyone used a '39-'40 coupe mat in a '37 coupe ? If so, is it close ? Did it need to be cut back on the sides ?
Is it too short ? Long ? Thanks in advance ! - FF

According to the EFV8 '37 Restoration Book > "The floor of the luggage compartment was covered with embossed Morrocco grain black paper"

This stuff was similar to thin tar/roofing paper. I don't know where you can purchase this stuff but if you find it you'll have to cut it to fit....

Pete is correct. The paper can be purchased at any hardware store. It is "roll roofing" used on nearly every roof prior to be shingled.

Kube....If he can find it without any ID/brand markings on it, which can be difficult. Otherwise he'll have to rattle-can it in flat black....

Somebody must make the mat, my '38 club coupe has one it it. It was in the car when I bought it.

Not to hack in but my 40 trunk had the tar paper in the trunk but also has the fine stones on one side just like rolled roofing? Ford never used it with the stones on it did they? Thanks

Hey Pete, The stuff I purchase has only stripes on one side. The other side is free of any markings.

Steve, All '40 Ford passenger cars had a (black) rubber floor mat in the trunk area. Not only did Ford not use paper with stones, Ford did not install paper in the trunk area of any '40 Ford.

Well, I checked with Mac's , C & G , and Dennis Carpenter , and no gots .
These guys are right , the '37 book says they never had a rubber mat , just the black paper material . Kinda explains now why nobody makes one !
I was just hoping somebody on here had used a '39-'40 , and could tell me if/how it fit in a '37 . - FF

I went to look at mine. It has embossed in the rubber at the rear of the mat:

Well , it appears that the "V8 Shop " has been gone for a while .
However , it looks as though the '40 mat fits back through '38 , and if it fits a '38 ok , then (I believe ) it will fit a '37 ok . I will take a chance w/a'39-'40 mat from one of the current suppliers .
40cpe , I think you may have solved it . ;)
Thanks to all who chimed in on this one . Love the Barn ! - FF

If you still have the brackets for the spare tire shelf you will have to cut those openings. My '40 is gone, so I can't measure to compare sizes.
