34 Roadster ft spring ..

4 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, im working on a 34 Roadster and the front sits to high, like 3 to 5 inches to high, it seams ..
I pulled the spring, thinking it was to wide, im pretty sure the green book calls for the spring to be 31 1/2 inches eye to eye, and thats what I have here.
Any ideas ?
It has 12 leaves, the black one is the one I took out, the one laying next to it is just something I had around ..
Thanks

It would have been more informative if you had a photo of the spring still in place with the weight of the engine and radiator giving us an idea of its normal amount of deflection at rest under load. In your two photos of the two springs it appears as the light colored one is a Model A spring given the smaller eye and the presence of what appears to be a bushing, but beyond that, the photos don't tell much. Sorry.

The size of the hole for the spring shackle should be 7/8" The shackle fits against the spring, there are no spacers. When assembled and with weight on, the spring eye will be below the perch spring shackle.

What is the goal to lower the car? Make it level? Have the front be lower than the rear?

The 34 spring I have here is 31-1/2 long , loaded ,3-1/4 from the centre to the top of the axle .unloaded Roadster 7" to the axle ,3" inches from the top of the 17" tyre to the fender lip .(this is likely stock but is a bit high )

Is he wanting to keep it totally stock? If not, removing a few spring leaves will soften it up and lower it.

To make it ride even I see a measurement of 3-5 inches in your first post. Sort of a wide range and difficult to determine the method to make it set even.. Measure the running board from the ground to the bottom lip of the board at the rear fender. Then do the same where the running board meets the front fender. The difference between the two should tell us what is needed to make it set even.
