An old time accessory for a GAZ Ford Model A

Now if Ms. Daisy was made in Russia, not Norfolk she might have had one of these...

mmm their fun to shoot - FYI they are supposed to be shot with the bayonet attached - helps with balance and recoil.

1) The value has tripled in the past 10 years.
2) Actually, well made.
3) Cheap to shoot

You would be arrested in New York for having the bayonet. New York has a lot of jerks in state and local governments that hate law abiding gun owners.

If the Model A had been made in Russia, Ford still have not been paid for it!!!!! Not the first company to have dumped money there.

Yikes! A Moisin Nagant In 7.62 X 54. The last one of those I had was made by Remington in 1917 and never shipped to Russia. Great gun! Accurate! smooth action! Didn't look like much though. I bought it for $15 and about a hundred rounds of Finnish Hunting ammo for another for $5. It was a while ago! The K98 Mausers were better but I can't really say why.

the Germans being German had much tighter tolerances and polished everything for a smooth action. The good is they are very smooth operating guns with a crisp trigger. The bad is lets say your firing pin breaks in combat, you find another identical k98 in the dirt and try to swap bolts, probably wont work too well. The Russians were more about quantity than quality
the triggers are a bit gritty, bolt feels like its got 1/16" slop all around and can be a bit chunky feeling when racking it. The beauty of that is you don't have tolerances to worry about, swap bolts all around and will function the same. Very few parts to break and can disassemble the whole gun with a pocket knife if you had to with winter gloves on. Thier both very fine firearms but thier like apples to oranges.

fyi dont swing the rifle around in the house with the bayo attached... Stabed a hole in my ceiling...

That is excellent advice Bill, I will remember that! Very funny, but true about unwanted friends.

Repairing things for friends and family, as you say Tom, is a no win.

If the repair goes well you never get paid, if the repair is unsuccessful you never hear the last of it.

Some years ago I bought a complete workshop full of tools and equipment from an elderly German fellow in the UK. I asked him why he was selling everything, he said he was fed up with being the "free" local repair shop for everyone. So if he sold all his tools he would not be pestered all the time - no tools meant free time for himself.

Maybe there is a word in the English vocabulary he didn't learn. NO!
Reminds me of a brass band competition in British Columbia years ago when an American entrant's instrument was damaged in transit. It was a weekend and he needed it QUICK. He was told of a guy who might help - and he agreed to to it. When the American came to pick it up, he complained about the price. The Canadian guy behind the counter took the instrument, banged it down in the counter and said, "There, now you don't owe me anything." He flatly refused to repair it again.:D:rolleyes::(

Your K98 is a $2k gun now.. Your Remington Mosin is close to $1K.

In the sixties, K98s and the Moisin Nagants and Arisakas 7.7, not to mention Carcanos, Swiss Veterlis, Enfields and Springfields , and Garands were like road apples, all over the place. I never owned a a Garand or a Mauser but I owned all the others. There was a Russian 10 shot semi auto that I can't recall the name of. They made the pistol too. They didn't time the gas piston correctly and the action would fly open before the bullet was clear of the muzzle. That could be hard on your eardrums!
