Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) 3 Attachment(s)
I am looking for some old school spring shackle pins in good condition for my '37 V8. Preferably the coarse threaded type where the inner pin is threaded into the outer sleeve, with a grease nipple in one end of the inner pin to lube the thread.

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) I've never seen one like that, could it have been an Aussie/NZ aftermarket piece?

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) These were DUFOR replacements, made in Australia

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) Why would anyone want to grease this pin? It works with torsional twist. That's why they have a rather large interference fit and need to be pressed in.
What am I missing here? |
Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) The outer would (I guess) still be pressed in, the inner would be able to rotate somewhat more freely than the ford part. It is aftermarket after all.

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) That might work ok on later models with locator bars, but on earlier years it would defeat how the suspension works!

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) Should I be changing them all to the pins that are currently available? That is, the ones that look to have a vulcanised rubber in between the inner pin and the outer sleeve?

Try Mike Driskell. I'm willing to bet he has them. |
Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) Thanks Kube, I will ask him. I have just bought US$1100 worth of bits from him.

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) Hey Kube, just talked to Michael and you are right, he has some.

Re: Spring Shackle Pins for a '37 V8 (New Zealand) As in the above reply they were made by Dufor in Australia. Good quality part but if over tightened will snap the grease zerk end. I have run these front and back in my roadster for over 40 years without a problem even though they are a different design from original they seem to work fine.
