1932 PT license plate

Is there any kind of demand for "PT" license plates? i found a great pair of Californian 1932 plates with the PT on it. Thanks

Re: 1932 PT license plate

PT plates are for "Pneumatic Trailer" not a motor vechicle.

Interesting....As I have never seen trailer tags sold as "pairs!" In case you lose one perhaps?

Is it a pair of '32 plates with different numbers or a pair with matching numbers? I agree with Pat, I've never seen a pair of trailer plates with matching numbers.

2ndgeer could be right but in case check with ALPCA.org.Its the lic plate club and organization. They will confirm exactly what "PT" stands for.

Re: 1932 PT license plate

Maybe for big truck if it is indeed "pneumatic tires" as opposed to earlier hard rubber. Would explain why a pair. Just a guess. PT could mean many things. Private Transit, Public Taxi.....

Watch what you post here! I caught a ration of shit a few years ago here for having mentioning that my girlfriend (of all people) had the temerity to purchase a Kia Soul.

Re: 1932 PT license plate

Maybe it was the mention of a girlfriend that caused the trouble.

Re: 1932 PT license plate

If they are standard size, as offered in 1932, I would think some owner with the initials P.T. would be interested. Who cares what it stood for in 1932.

Always thought of the PT as being a reincarnation of a 30's vintage slant back.

I looked it up on the DMV website,

Appendix 1E - California License Plate Data (1914-1980)
.0120 Trailer License Plates
License plates specifically identifying commercial trailers were introduced in 1918.

So i guess they cant be any use unless you have a commercial trailer. great price and condition.

I was kinda thinking the same thing … sort of.
Isn't there some support groups for the owners of PT Cruisers?

It looks like they are matching numbers. Since there are two, it's possible they may be useable on a vehicle. On my '41 pickup I put '41 passenger car plates on it. DMV never said a word and allowed me to do it. All they want is the money. Go to DMV and tell them the PT means "pickup truck" and you might get away with it.

Re: 1932 PT license plate

Many government cars have a special US government license plate but for state government some use the Public Transport or PT plates. They are usually for state owned official vehicles. Not all states are the same though.
