Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... I've been watching the B-J auction in Las-Vegas off and on for the past couple of days. The following "A's" sold were all nice cars at least for what I could tell: '30 sport-coupe $26,500, '31 deluxe roadster $29,500 and a '31 deluxe phaeton for only $28,000. Damn:eek:, the phaeton went cheap to me and the other ones a little on the high side. Oh' well, a '36
Ford custom pickup just went for a $130,000!:( Bob-A:D |
Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... That 36 Ford PickUp must have had $100,000 cash under the seat to be worth that much. Auctions like this don't really reflect reality, they just demonstrate that some folks are willing to pay more than the next guy for a particular vehicle.

Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... The better news is that next year they are coming to Connecticut in June!

Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... Do those prices include buyer's penalty of what, 10%?? 15%??
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... I believe the buyer penalty or Premium is over and above the aucton price.
|
Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... BJ auctions and some others make everyone who has a rusted vehicle in a field think they are worth way more than they are, as to premium I believe the seller part is 8% and the buyers is 10%.

Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... They were dismissed by B-J this past summer. Some dispute with the company. :(

Maybe B-J has reached their potential, gotten too big. I have noticed with the Mecum sales now that they are carried on TV by MSNBC, the prices for their cars are climbing compared to before. I try to ignore the prices hype and just watch the auction as a car show. Nothing more. A DVR is sure handy because you can fast forward all the commercials and cars you aren't interested in. A 3 hour program can be seen in about 15 minutes. |
Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... Yes! DVR is great for Barret-Jackson Auctions. 4 and 5 minute commercials are now the norm. I can do a 6 hour auction is 30 minutes as I could care less about all the Camaro's and Mustang's.

Re: Barrett-Jackson in Vegas.... According to TheShop blog this AM, the B-J auction in Las Vegas had sales $26.9 million with a 98% sell through. Charity money raised was $750,000.
Also announced new auction for next year: Barrett-Jackson on Sept. 26, along with officials from Mohegan Sun, announced the first Barrett-Jackson auction that will be held in the northeast U.S. The new auction is scheduled next year for June 23-25 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. |
