Throttle shaft lubricant

Did a fruitless search for a petroleum resistant lube for the zenith throttle shaft.
I remember a past discussion where this came up but can't find it.
Guess I can try never-seize. Maybe silicon dielectric grease.
Anyone share their experience? Silver solder abraded off fairly quick.

I use the copper colored high temp grease used for disc brake work. Just checked my shop and I can't find the stuff to give you a name brand.

Re: Throttle shaft lubricant

A drop of oil now and then will get drawn in by the low pressure but it will last a while. Any grease would stay longer than straight oil but it will get sticky over time due to the soap staying there while the lube is drawn out by the manifold pressure.

If an old Zenith or what have you needs shaft bushings then it likely could be done easy enough.

I've installed shaft bushings in Zenith carbs with good results . Off the top of my head, I don't recall the size drill bit that I used .

E z turn. That looks like it.
Want to try it.
One fix was Teflon clear tape on the external side of the throttle shaft, but I can't locate any locally. I know bushings are good, just want to experiment. Had someone take a disliking to my silver soldered throttle shaft repair. All he heard was a poor idle.
Took him a year to bring it to my attention.
