turn signals
 

I'm getting ready to install turn signals on the 40. For those of you who have done it, where have you "hidden" the flasher?? 6 volt pos ground still.
What gauge wire did you use??

#14 gauge should be sufficient.
Flasher in a convenient spot under the dash.

I would just match the current brake and tail light wiring gauge.

Flasher I wire tied it up under the dash. Grounded to the inside firewall radio bolt. I used the wire that came with the turn signal. Wiring to lights, I bought from Advanced Auto. They were made for 12 volt wiring, all labeled for each light and work fine. I used the advance auto wiring on both the 52 F1 and the 39

I also added this buzzer to the mix works great on 6 volts, mine was so loud and annoying, I placed a piece of tape over the sound hole. With headers my flathead was a little loud, now I don't forget to turn off the signal lights.

My flasher unit does not make enough of a "clicking" sound to over-come my smitty mufflers and engine noise and I don't like my "passenger" reminding me that the directional is still on. At one point I added a Radio Shack buzzer but it was extremely annoying. So pursuant to a few Forum posts I rappedthe buzzer with foam tape etc and it didn't help.

My car did not come to me as a "concourse" worthy car so I bought two red 1/8 inch diameter LED indicator bulbs, took my speedo dial apart, drilled two 1/8 inch holes thru the speedo dial face (one each side), thumb-pressed the LED bulbs into the holes, and connected each bulb to the proper side directional circuit. Works great .... LED's are bright, obvious, quiet, and very inconspicuous when not lighted (they look like small screw heads in the dial face).

A possible alternative is that flasher units certain cars (would be 12 volt tho) have a louder clicking sound.
