Banjo 39-40 hub flange difference?

I'm going to look at a banjo today for the purpose of needing unpitted axle bells
I'm needing a 39-40 but he thinks the hub Flange on his might be longer because of the drums? And might not be able to use wide 5 drums that I have? I was under the impression that 37-40 was the same?

The bearing flange areas should be the same - no worries!

Post 41 axles are longer but the bearing surface is the same.

Be sure to look at the spring hangers to make sure it is a '37-'40 axle and not a '41 or '42-'48.
