First trip away in the 33

I'm going out in the 33 for the first time since my wife Carol passed a few months back.just a short 100 mile each way ,I have given the 33 a once over, checked oil and tyres, and packed smoko, thermos , coffee and my home made scones, will stop on the roadside for coffee like we used to .
it will be strange in the 33 as wife Carol was the navigator for thousands of miles.

Hi Lawrie, Yes I know it will be very different without Carol in the navigators seat, but she will be with you in spirit. You will enjoy the trip in your 33 Ford just the same. Have a great time. Regards, Barb & Kevin.

G’day Lawrie. Your trip will be different for sure but very pleasurable with many great memories. Try no to get lost without your navigator. Cheers. Tony.

Have a good trip Lawrie.... I'm betting she'll be guiding you some along the way.

She will be watching, warning you of road hazards like deer.

Lawrie,
I thank you again for sharing photos of your past trips with Carol as I requested some time back. Alice and I did a couple 150 mile trips in the '32 and I value
every mile with her as she faces challenges. You are half a world away but still close.

KC and I will be thinking of you. She's flying out next Thursday then we're heading up to Bonneville. What's Smoko?

From the internet:

"The tradition of a smoko in the Australian sense seems to have begun amongst sheep shearers in the 1860s. Although a slang term, the word "smoko" has been used in government writing and industrial relations reports to mean a short work break."

Lawrie,
May that wonderful old ford take you to that place in your heart that we all like to go. It has no name but we all feel it as we roll down that favorite old road or highway in the sunshine with the windows down. The car and the road sound , feel and even smell Just right. It's not on any map . It's not on any advertisement . It just IS!
May there always be road, Tim

Glad to see you are going back out and do what you and your late wife enjoyed doing together. I know it will have a completely different feeling, but , as others have stated, she will be there guiding you along. Wishing you a safe trip.

Lawrie, glad to see you and the 33 back on the road. I always enjoy your posts. It is hard to adjust to the changes that come to our lives as we get older. Wishing you the best.

Lawrie, I'll just say enjoy the ride and know you are not alone. Glad to see you are taking another trip. Have some fun and answer all the questions bystanders will likely be asking.

Lawrie, one step at a time. Loosing the closest friend is hard. But she is there with you.

Hey Lawrie, glad you're hitting the road again! Your navigator will be right by your side and I'm sure you'll "feel" her smiling down on you and encouraging you to do all the things you used to do together. Send some pics and enjoy the experience along the way.

My heart goes out to you. I haven't been able to do it, yet. Short trips, yes. But, I sure miss 'my bride'. Travelling alone sure is hard for me. We were married 55 years, and did everything together. I have several 'couple-hundred-milers' that I'd like to do. But, so far, can't bring myself to 'solo' them. For sure, I know where your mind will be, and she will be with you, all the way. Blessings and best wishes.
