1951 Ford F-100 pickup truck

Hi guys ! I am wondering if someone out there can give me some tech help regarding a 1951 Ford F-100 I just purchased. it is basically complete but has a 302 and a 4 speed in it. I have a friend who is changing over his 49 and has the original 6 and manual trans that he is selling. If I purchase these will this engine and tranny be right for the truck I have or not ? If so can some one take a couple of photo's of there truck so I know how they should properly fit in the chassis. Any help appreciated Tom

The 226 I6 and (presuming to be ) light duty 3 speed tranny would be correct for a 51.

The unknown to me are the mods made to accommodate the 302. A couple of considerations:

Original radiator? There are two positions for the radiator support with the more forward (toward the bumper) used for the I6 compared to the V8 (which is shorter in length).

The I6 needs a fan shroud (unique to that engine) to keep things cool.

The battery box is on the DS for the I6.

The trans cradle and yoke are unique to the light duty 3 speed.

The 49 trans should be a floor shift (the 51 would have been a column shift).

You'll need to check the drive shaft length to insure fit.

The 302 is certainly 12 volt. Unsure of your plans for the I6.

No show stoppers, just things to consider.

Is something wrong with the 302? Have you driven it enough to know whether it's good? Not sure I'd throw it away, 302's are a good match to F-1's.
