Radiator Shell

Has there ever been a stainless steel 28-29 radiator shell made. I've never seen one since they were originally steel with a nickel plate. I am tried of the JUNK thats out there now. They don't fit and the plating comes off and start rusting. My car is a driver so I am not needing show quality just want something that looks good. I'm considering having my original shell replated but the quality of the platers determines if will last.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Re: Radiator Shell

The design of this shell seems to have emerged as a long-term flaw with the '29s. I've had several used shells and they all had cracks at the bottom panel. Nor does the shell usually seem to have satisfactory clearance at the hood shelf.

I cast authenticity to the winds and had mine replated in chrome....nickel does have a unique beautiful tone, if you don't mind polishing it continually.

It will cost you between $400.00 & $600.00 depending on the condition of yours..

Try talking to Craig Riker in Toledo about replating your original shell. 419-290-4442. He is at Hershey every year and is a Fine Point Judge for Model A plating and knows how they are supposed to be. Dale Gosa.

I swear there has, but when I went looking for them among the 5 or 6 various parts providers at that time none to be had.

Stainless headlamp shells, or at least the rims are available.
