1940 Bellows

I was hoping some one could tell me if the bellows on my 40 deluxe should match the seat covers? Thanks.

Re: 1940 Bellows

The bellows is the fabric that covers the gap from the back of the seat to the flat area under the back window.

Re: 1940 Bellows

The bellows as you call it should be the same material as the seat.

That's not correct. The so called "bellows" is made from side wall cloth. It does not match the seating material.

Thanks for the information. I’ve been waiting for a long time for the rest of my interior package when this item arrived it didn’t match anything in the car. I’ve emailed the shop in Lockport NY. I probably just got someone else’s. Thanks again.

That does not appear to be correct. It should match the material on the side boards of your seat.

Ken, Here's a few photos's of the material LeBaron Bonney sent me with their kit in 1988. It. goes between the top edge of the seat back and the package tray wood divider. It is a medium pile fabric -not just a piece of cloth.
The package tray material they sent as seen in the photos is incorrect. It's vinyl. When I bought the car in 1963 it had worn cloth that looked like the headliner covering the package tray. I attached the "bellows" using velcro to make removing the seat easier. Here's some pics.

I can see now why it is called a bellows. Is that a common generic name for it, or is there another name ?

Is that true for the leather interior? The leather interior that I got from LB had the bellows made from the same leather as the seat.

It should not have been leather but rather, a matching "leatherette", nearly equivalent to modern vinyl.

I remember when they were supplying that stuff. Their reason, however flawed, was they could not get the cardboard with the proper grain.
