L-4 Kingston carburetor seat https://i.imgur.com/WMsfQdI_d.jpg?ma...idelity=medium
I had a tough time removing this seat and probably should run a tap in there to clean up the threads. I thought there would be a new seat in the rebuild kit I have but it ended up needing to be ordered separately so I don't have it yet. Anybody happen to know the diameter and thread spacing on this? |
Re: L-4 Kingston carburetor seat Have you tried Ecklers ? They seem to have a varied selection of Model T parts

Re: L-4 Kingston carburetor seat Where are you located?. When you get one, get the original style not the two ball type.

Re: L-4 Kingston carburetor seat I had the replacement ordered already, it looks like the one pictured and identical to the mangled one that came out, so it should be original. I wonder if the "two ball" type was the part in the kit I didn't recognize.
The problem is just that the threads in the carburetor were slightly damaged, so I need to run a tap or at least a hard bolt of the right size in there to clean it up so I don't damage the threads on the new seat. The new part arrived so I'll just take the seat into Lowes and use the bolt sizer to figure out what I need. Does that copper washer go under the bottom of the seat? Don't recall that coming out with the old one, I'll have to look again. |
Re: L-4 Kingston carburetor seat I have not figured out why the copper washer is there. I toss them in the trash.

Re: L-4 Kingston carburetor seat For future reference, a 3/8 - 16 tap worked to repair the seat threads.
Since the carb had a lot of pitting and surface rust, after it came out of the dip bucket I hit it with a wire dremel brush. Then after taping off the openings, I coated it with POR15 fuel tank sealer. I've had good results with regular POR15 so we'll see how this works out. https://i.imgur.com/uYF0wZu_d.jpg?ma...idelity=medium |
