We stay in Dahlonega every year. As John said, it is a short drive over good roads to Dawsonville. Dahlonega is a nice town with a quaint downtown area and has several restaurants as opposed to fast food joints. The Days Inn there has always been clean with a small breakfast offering. The price has been in the $80-$90 range.

Curious if you can tell me where the Hilton is, cant get link to work and would like to reserve a room. Is this one of the preferred hotels?

If you are interested in staying where the Cigar City Flatheads will be, check out the link below and reserve your room. This particular Hilton is in Alpharetta, Georgia, it is about 20 minutes south of Dawsonville, on the Georgia 400 Highway. If you copy and paste the link into your browser, you should be able to pull up the info. there are hotels closer to Dawsonville, we stay in Alpharetta as a convenience, it may be more convenient for you to stay closer to Dawsonville, depending on where you are located in south Carolina.
