Just kidding of course!! |
Re: looking for a ride Did you inquire at Fastenal? Usually good rates for that type of shipment. Finding a private individual going between two specific places may be like winning the lottery. lol
|
Re: looking for a ride I've read on a few different forums where Fastenal isn't doing that any more.

Re: looking for a ride I've shipped large parts via Greyhound, but it's been quite a while ago.
|
Re: looking for a ride I have shipped individual crates using ABF freight. Door to door. Fair price.

Re: looking for a ride I have shipped large boxes by 6-horse stage coach but that was quite a while ago.

Re: looking for a ride Not funny brent east tenn. Just the same

Re: looking for a ride I recently used Fastenal to ship a large item half-way across the country, so they definitely ARE still doing it. My item was about 200 lbs and loaded on a pallet. Cost me $160. Fastenal's freight service is Blue Line Freight - you can request a quote online thru Fastenal website.
Your box should probably be strapped to a pallet to make it easier for them to handle |

Re: looking for a ride Good point.....I think Greyhound would be the most cost effective way to go.

Re: looking for a ride Yeah, no way Greyhound will take a 240 lb box. They don't have forklifts, it's just porters lifting things by hand.
|
Re: looking for a ride I have no personal experience w/them, but I've heard that Estes is good to deal with.

Re: looking for a ride As to The Dog (Greyhound) NO! But it is too heavy
It took 7 weeks for me to receive a cabby door from Oregon (to TN) They told me to file a loss claim when it showed. Had many stickers on it like a steamer trunk ! They only move things when spare space shows up on a bus. |
Re: looking for a ride the box made its way to WV thanks everyone
|
Re: looking for a ride Without getting too personal do you mind sharing how it got there, Fastenal, Greyhound, Freight carrier, ?
|
Re: looking for a ride Freight carrier. we shopped for months to find a decent price. it was not cheap but it got there in good shape.
|
Re: looking for a ride Could try uship next time. I think they still bid.
|
Re: looking for a ride Thank You. I sent a rear from MD to MO a couple of years ago. The receiver arranged for the shipping. I strapped the part to a pallet, had it picked up at a commercial address and shipped to a commercial address. He used fed ex express and it cost around $200.
