Where to purchase Babbitt

Where can I purchase the babbitt and tin in order to pour babbitt bearings. My club has a jig to pour and cut babbitt bearings and we want to experiment but we don't know where to purchase the appropriate materials.

Do you have the proper peening tools?

Have you researched how to work the babbitt pot properly?

There is a lot to how you melt the babbitt and control the pour to get small crystals. Are you planning on getting the correct Ford babbitt or the grade 2 babbitt that is close? The proper babbitt is tough to pour. My brother poured and beat out babbitt to see how it pour many many times till he could pour consistently.

What I am getting out is doing it right take quite a bit of effort and expense.
I have spent some time researching some aspects and if you PM me or better email me ([email protected]) I would be happy to share some of the information.

Another place is Belmont metals in Brooklyn when I talked to them they were very helpful and at the time would make special mixes and sell small quantities
