Brake Clevis Pin wear

My '28 Sport Coupe has sloppy (loose) brake rod clevis to brake camshaft lever connections and rattle when I go over bumps in the road. I have removed the clevis pins and can see and feel the obvious wear on the clevis pin. My question is; do I need to replace only the clevis pin or has the clevis hole and brake lever's hole been worn larger? In other words, were the clevis pins designed to wear first, thus making it a simple and less expensive repair?

Re: Brake Clevis Pin wear

Clevis pins and brake rods are both hard steel and probably wear at about the same rate. you can get oversize pins and enlarge the hole in the rod. Or close up the hole in the rod and use a standard size pin or go new on both. An old trick to quiet rattling rods is to turn the adjustable clevis end a 1/8 turn or less out of parallel, it binds the rod in the lever.

Rainmake Ron has a good fix for this. He wrapped some leather around the connection as I recall. This would have the added benefit of holding some oil.
