'31 welting.
 

Should there be a beaded welt between the fuel tank and the cowl on the '31's?.

Yes. The bead is smaller in diameter than the bead on the fender welt. It was originally installed prior to painting and ended up being lower body color.

I just did my 29 cc last night, its called cowl welt, 10', part # a3405cw, theres enough to start at the bottom of a door pillar then up and over the top of tank and down the other side, this one piece, the left over is for the 2 sides. I used a paper hole punch 1/4". I used gas tank anti squeak a9006 only on the front edge where the tank and cowl bolt up.

Originally, there was no welt on the sides of a 28-29 gastank.
