Luggage rack bracket question. 2 Attachment(s)
I guess it is not that critical of a question but I just wonder if anyone knows what this notch is for that all the repro luggage rack brackets have? It seems to serve no function .I just look at this and wonder why they even stamp this process or step in making them.Must be something that was on the original ones? Seems it would take quite the press or stamping to punch out that thick of metal for no reason.Inquiring minds want to know,at least mine.

Re: Luggage rack bracket question. There were several different types to suit the various bodies. The Victoria version had a curved cutout to clear the rear apron.

My original Victoria trunk rack support has that punched out piece. I do not know what it was for.

Re: Luggage rack bracket question. Yes ,you look at it and what step in the process it must have taken to stamp it out, rather punch it and you would think it had a purpose like a stop or something.

Re: Luggage rack bracket question. Now that I look at it, it is the stop for the folding arms of the trunk rack when it is lowered and it keeps the folding arms from going down when the rack is folded up.
