Oil pan help/advice... I have a great looking, clean and solid oil pan !
Problem is that the mounting surfaces are not straight/flat/parallel ! I've found out that Ford metal used to make his oil pans...is TOUGH stuff ! A bigger hammer only got me hurt bigger ! How would you correct such a pan condition, or should I use a different pan ? |
Re: Oil pan help/advice... If you put it on a good solid steal plate and use a steel fairly long punch (large diameter) you should be able to flatten it. May be a two person operation to keep everything in alignment.

Re: Oil pan help/advice... I have a couple 1/2" thick steel bars one 2" and the other 4" wide - about 8-10" long. I clamp one of these in my vice (depending on the shape of the pan) and use them to rest the pan rail of oil pans on. This gives me a nice support anvil to then use my hammer to flatten out oil pan holes that are no longer flat. This has worked well for me for years.
