Front Tool Box

1 Attachment(s)
Hello to each other.

In an other topic post I have first seen that there is a front toolbox for the A.

I like it so much that I immediately tried to order one. But my dealers MAC's, Bratton's and - finally dismissive - even Snyder's can not deliver it and there is also no indication when the box is available again.

Does anyone know an address where I can still buy the Tool Box? Also used part.

Re: Front Tool Box

Almost exactly two years ago, when I was on a quest to get one, Mike's Afordable was the only place that carried them (here's an archive of their product page for it from July, 2016 - note that they call the toolbox "A Mike's Exclusive", implying at the time that they were the only sellers of it)

They don't have it in stock now, but here's their contact page - maybe someone there can let you know if the there are plans to produce/sell them again.

Re: Front Tool Box

Used some 1-1/2" X 1/4" strap and a 14" tool box and made my own. Less than $25.

Werner, There are two versions of the tool box if you are talking about the one that fits between the frame horns on the front of the car. One is square like the picture posted. The other is shaped to follow the downward curve of the frame horns. The second one looks like it belongs to the car. Jack

As I posted in the other thread, here is a picture of the one on my Town Sedan. As far as I know, Mike's A-Ford-Able is the only vender that sold them and they are not listed in their catalog anymore. A few months ago they were offering the lid on (no tool box) so I can only assume they were selling off any remaining parts.

I was going to buy an extra lid but as usual I blinked and they were gone...

Maybe if enough interest they will start selling them again.

Yes Jack, just like the picture of Mr. Blockhead, that's the round box shape that I want for my car's year of construction 1928.

I also asked Mike's company. There is no longer to buy this type of oval box.

The fact that there was a lid individually makes it easy to replicate. But even the lid is no longer available as a single item. To make this myself, I think it is very difficult to make the longitudinal embossing hardly feasible with sheet and hammer.

It would be nice if someone opens here a request topic to ask who is interested. Then it turns out how many people would want this nice box.

I had no difficulty buying this tool box this year from my local dealer. It has a much larger capacity than the curved tool box.

Hallo,
I already have a square tool box. On the right side on the step board.

But for the front I would like to have such a very nice oval box. It integrates so beautifully that it looks like Henry Ford designed it himself.

If the oval box is mounted on the front, then I remove the square box.

Haha, I think you're right! Mr. Blockhead indeed!! But the name comes from my 'other' passion. Ford's first OHV Y-8, The Y-Block made from 1954-1964.

I love the side toolbox and am totally envious.

Re: Front Tool Box

I made my tool box with a curved lid just like the ones the vendors sold. I only used a few pieces of offcuts from another project so the cost was virtually nothing.
Werner, maybe you could find someone to fabricate one for you - who knows, you might even sell a few. BTW, the hinge is along the bottom edge of the front of the box, not at the back of the lid.

Steve, do you normally stock the tool box Mr. Blockhead shows in post #5? If so I am interested in purchasing one.

An Steeve B 31:
If I look at your shop-page there is shown only the biger edge box. I do not find the contoured box like pictured box shown in # 5.

Note: The deliver adress is in Germany!

Re: Front Tool Box

The problem for me would be that the hand crank would no longer be able to be used .

I like to use my hand crank to show off if nothing else .

The hand crank is part of the model A experience that I wouldn't consider giving up !!!

No harm meant to those that like the tool box . Just my thought .
