31 closed cab truck seat back install
 

For the life of me I can't seem to figure how to install the seatback in my 31 closed cab pickup. If seen some pics on this site but they don't seem to look like my truck. The pics seem to show a rail directly above the 3 vertical wood supports and the retaining clips bolted through that capturing the seat spring. I don't have a rail there. The only horizontal wooden support at the top edge of the seat back. Anyone have any pics of there 31 closed cab they could post?

It sounds like you have the early second generation 30 cab.They didn't have the horizontal wooden rail at the beginning.The vertical supports bolted directly through the back of the cab.At least,that is what I'm getting from your post,I think you might have left a few words out.

I appreciate everybody's help I have the pointed lower retainers . I'll get a set of the uppers.

Do you have the holes in the cab to mount the wood strip across the back of the cab?

Thanks Bob you pictures are almost identical to my cab. I have repo seat springs and the top of the back cushion is flush with the top of the wood rail. Your picture shows it below.

Bob, I think that your first picture is showing the 1930 cab where the seat back hangs from the upper retainers and uses the screw-on lower retainers which prevent the seat from moving upwards.


The next two photos are showing the retainers attached to the cross board and would have the pointed lower retainers.
