Moving the 30/31 Victoria on Amer. Pickers

Did you guys notice the effort that Frank and Mike, "The Pickers" on American Pickers, went through to get to a '32 Roadster body shell out of a barn? In southern Ill. on a recent show, they had to "remove" = drag out a very nice and complete "barn find" stock Model A Victoria. It was a Steelback, with original looking paint and very complete.

I would be there in a heartbeat to save this little Vicky from further potential decay and get it on the road. I am amazed at just how many A's & T's are still out there hiding in varius stages of repair and disrepair. I would hop a flight to get a gander at this little gem! https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif

Be well -

Vicky was definitely in better shape than the body

Hop2it your are right ! what were they thinking??? that 32 body was worth what?? The reproduction 1932 bodies are super for rodding .Part of History my ass... Looking for a ass for that 32 seat to buy... That Vicky looked super solid and did i not see a pickup [not the bed but a pickup truck..??? I don't think they [pickers] left anything behind.. they called the haulers out... to pickup the cars. Check their website and see in a few weeks if forsale...???

The production crew could not get the owners to sell the Model A, so the '32 was the next best thing to air a show. It's all for entertainment value, not education value.

The bigger issue was the guy who said he could get that roadster body going down the road for 13-15k. A rolling chassis will cost 8-10K alone, then there is the engine, 4k min. We have not even talked about interior, body work on the roadster-plus assemble, plus, plus, plus.

I can get that body going down the road for that price.. A super used F250 FORD pickup for $14,000.00 and a used snowmobile trailer....Sounds to me they did not want to pay the price for that Vicky.... ! cheap cheap like the birds...

You can't take that show too seriously, watch it to see what people have stashed away in there lifetime, and you will enjoy it IMO. I'd like to have the steelback Vicky too, the '32 Roadster body was bought right, and if the chassis and other missing bits are bought right I can see a shop knocking it out for $20,000 Mike said he wanted a "Rat Rod", and that body was the one to start with. Looked like they had a few A's. I constantly see them in barns like that on that show, and usually the people have 2-3 of them.

Reminds me of the first time I met my BIL in Montana. We hopped into to his (group ownership) single engine plane and flew back to the ranch. I saw a lot of nice metal behind the barns that you would never see from the road. That's a great way to spot old autos.

Re: Moving the 30/31 Victoria on Amer. Pickers

On "American Pickers" I have often seen them digging in dusty barns searching for their rare barn find. Everything around them is covered with about a half of an inch of dust and the are surrounded by only primitive junk. Then like a message from heaven, strangely one of them finds a perfectly clean motorcycle engine hiding behind some junk pile. These great barn finds have been planted, just like is also done in the storage lockers on "Storage Wars". On Storage Wars, they usually don't show any other bidders bidding except the 4 different bidders that bid every week. What about the other bidders that are there with bidder numbers? They never bid??? These TV shows are just a fantasy. Very little of it is real. I was a picker and I ran my own store for over 30 years. I still enjoy watching them though.
