Looking to install Stewart/RobertShaw high flow thermostats in my 8BA
and my question is should I use the ones with or without bypass holes
Thanks, Bill

Re: Flathead 8BA Thermostat Question

always use the ones with the by pass holes, they prevent air locks and let the thermostats opem faster because a little water is allowed to flow past bringing hot water to them

Re: Flathead 8BA Thermostat Question

I drill two 1/8" holes in the non-bypass types. For the reason described by ford1.

Re: Flathead 8BA Thermostat Question

Contact Bob Shewman he has the original Robertshaw 180 stats for 49 to 53 Fords with or without the flow holes. I use the ones with the flow holes. I think they are $40.00 a set including shipping and gaskets. gadgiteer@aol.com 1-610-933-6637 G.M.
