1950 Transmission Input Shaft

Guys I'm afraid to ask this question. Should I be able to feel play in my 5 speed transmission input shaft?

a little side to side play is pretty normal, in and out should be none, or darn close to it

Oh I feel so much better. I'll check the in out in the morning but I could feel just a slight side to side as I was cleaning it up. Hoping to drop the motor on it tomorrow. Wish me luck... :)

That's why the pilot bushing/bearing in the rear of the crankshaft is so important. It accepts the slim snout on that input shaft and keeps it firmly centered in line with the crankshaft. DD

Got it, thanks. My clutch kit came with a new one and I have that in.
