Whatever method you chose to attach it to the top, take care it doesn't damage the weather-stripping too badly.

I seen a picture of a lift taking a top off. I though there was a lift made for the T-Bird top. Its hard for one person to do by myself.

I had a 55, and the top was no problem for two (young) men, if the 2nd man was available. Then there is the problem of where to put it.

The one shown allows you to driver from under it and it stays suspended.

Harbor freight:

PITTSBURGH AUTOMOTIVE
440 Lb. Electric Hoist With Remote Control
Lift heavy equipment from a safe distance with this electric hoist

$99.99

With the remote control should be easy, with a few straps under the top.

The TBird parts suppliers sell lifts. The ones above do not have the arms that hold the top (unless you want to make your own).

they are not powered, they use a pulley system. I have one it works but a motorized one would be nice.

Re: Power lift to remove top on T-Bird

I had one of the "t bird suppliers " lifts. The rope was small, and the pulleys didn't have quite enough reduction for a 60 year old guy. I could use it, but it was a pain.

I've read the bird tops tend to spread out when off the car. Mine is off more than on and that happened. The pins right behind the doors don't fit into the holes. Starting over I'd have a hoist to remove it, and then store it in one of the roll around racks they sell. And figure out a way to clamp or band the sides together. But now it's more equipment and more room, etc. My top has been on a high shelf at my buddy's shop for 2-3 years now.
