Beeper for turn signals
 

I am sure others have had the same problem, that's the reason for this query.

I am using one of the small beepers that has to be wired up using the chromed alligator clips to attach wires to the small beeper which has the small hard formed contacts. Mine does not seem to be making good contact at this point, because if I wiggled the alligator clips around a little the buzzer works fine. Almost too small to solder. A larger beeper, even with tape over it,. is just too loud, :eek:,and the wife says I'm hard of hearing. LOL

Would a little dielectric grease help? Thanks. Lawson

Could be cheap plating on the alligator clips.

Ahhhhh come on Lawson, you don't use alligator clips to connect electrical items on a motor car. Use a small electronics soldering iron and resin core solder and solder on a wire to that little terminal after you clean it up to bare metal. You could do that surely. Regards, Kevin.

I use beepers in both my early Fords. I just ordered some el cheapos off ebay. I soldered the wires on no problem and muted them with some tape. Cheap, easy reliable.

Yeah, I'll probably do that; and don't call me Shirley. :eek: It's just that my hands are so shaky that I have trouble with the delicate stuff. :)

You can also solder the audio speaker wires to the turn signal flasher terminals and it will go beep, beep in synchrony with the turn signal.

I picked up a couple of these little buzzers from Radio Shack.

They have their own leads for connecting. I put some tape over them to soften them a bit.

Keep in mind that the buzzers are polarity sensitive.

This is sidebar question but what purpose does the beeper serve?

The resistance of a loose connection, like alligator clips, tends to increase rapidly making things worse.

I hate mine - too loud and I'm pretty much deaf- lol. So how do I kill this thing without getting too messy - I've got a bad back too.

I purchased the flasher with a beeper as one unit. Don't remember where other than the internet. Then again I don't recall what I had for supper yesterday.

It's called finishing the turn. The process begins with telling the world of your intention. After successfully negotiating the corner, and checking the mirrors and surroundings, cancel the signal. The process is not random. It will always be the same.
