Holley teapot
 

I am trying to find a parts explosion drawing of the Holley EAC-9510 "teapot" carb for my 52 Merc engine. I know nothing about it. Thanks

That cutaway is for what I call "covered " carb. The 52 is "open throat".

The shrouded carb works the same in theory but it just had the shroud and a different style of air filter. As least with those open type you can usually see when there are leaks between the bowl housing and the throttle body. They didn't call them the towering inferno carb for nothing. A guy has to make sure the parts fit well together. If there is too much warpage then it's time to find a better core carb for parts. You can buy CDs now that have copies of the parts & maintenance instructions for these cars. It's usually less expensive that buying the hard copy manuals. I'd suggest Detroit Iron Information Systems CDs. They may be available from repro parts sources or flea-pay.

I had one on my first car, a 55 mainliner, caught fire at least a couple times on me.
Till I had my dad's best friend rebuild it.

9510 is the base Ford part number for carburetors. EAC-9510 is the Ford part number for the Holley 1901 carburetor.

38 coupe. Thanks, That is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks to the others also. A very comprehensive manual on this carb.
Now, for all the folks that think that vapor lock was invented by Fordbarners, Here is a paragraph from the manual that proves that even the old gas boiled.

"The main body is mounted above the center of the throttle body in a manner
which allows cooling air to circulate completely around it. This free circulation
of air helps to cool the fuel in the float chamber, preventing percolation and hard
starting when the engine is hot. Truly concentric airflow through the carburetor
results from this method of mounting the main body, as the air flows vertically
downward on all sides of the main body into each venturi. As a result of this feature, the Carburetor Model 1901 has a concentric flow of air as well as a concentric flow of fuel"

The problems associated with vapor lock was the major reason this carburetor was designed. It kept the bowl well above the manifold. The design is not a bad one if properly maintained but it's problems arise with improper maintenance and fire hazzards that can come from that. The Holley manual, used in tandem with the appropriate FoMoCo manuals, will give a mechanic all the information he would ever need to maintain one for a speciafic model of car. The FoMoCo manuals are very comprehensive for the model affected and gives all design adjustments for each with additions of linkage adjustments for automatic transmissions and such. These are important to have if you have Merc-O-Matic or Ford-O-Matic transmissions.

John, I'm using a 52 merc carb on my latest project. I found that an electric choke with a heater,(12v), bolts right on in place of the original. I bought it for an eldebrock carb, but fit the Holley just fine. I had a stock 53 monterey that got gas mileage in the mid twenty's Chuck S.

John, see if there is a list no. stamped on the flange of the throttle body. Take that to your local Napa or other parts store. Get a rebuild kit. The paper inside the kit will tell you about all you need to rebuild it. Float setting ect. and a pic breakdown. Seems I built a truck load of them back in the 60's. Walt
