1934 Wagon colors Saw a very nice ‘34 wagon today finished in coach maroon, but with black fenders; I was not aware of two tone paint option in that year and would appreciate the group’s feedback. Thank you.

Re: 1934 Wagon colors I was under the impression that the only colors available for the '34 Station Wagon were Cordoba Gray or Mountain Brown, with Black fenders.

Re: 1934 Wagon colors Thank you, but both seem to be dealer sales (and possibly painted to enhance marketability). Do we know if the black fenders are truly legit ?
|
Re: 1934 Wagon colors Yes, the fenders were Black.

Re: 1934 Wagon colors But body would not have been coach maroon…

Re: 1934 Wagon colors Shouldn’t 1934 Fenders be body color?? 33 would be black fenders!!

Re: 1934 Wagon colors Robert's copy of the Ford archives photo of a '34 station wagon with body color fenders puts a huge hole in the black fender argument as it is tough to find better documentation than that photo.
But the frosting on the cake is mercurycyclone's contribution regarding the paint color flexibility Ford offered its fleet customers. Best of all, the version that he has was printed after February, 1934 when Ford made a number of deletions and additions to its commercial vehicle color choices. One of those additions was Coach Maroon. (A minor quibble is that the color on the subject vehicle is lighter than the original Coach Maroon color.) So, within a few short responses, the idea that all '34 Ford station wagons had to have been painted Mountain Brown with black fenders is laid to rest based on the solid Ford documentation. |

Re: 1934 Wagon colors Gentlemen, This has been extremely helpful; my sincere thanks to all ! If anyone can post a high quality photo (in sunlight) of a “known good” example of coach maroon, that may be helpful. Not sure if a Pantone or other match can be had in the next several days.

The maroon on the coupe in the photo below is a good match to the original color based on cars that I have seen that have not been repainted. Unfortunately it is evidently overcast in that photo as there are no distinct shadows
