Welch plug for carb Anyone know where I can get some Welch plugs?
In case you don't not know what these are, they are the little lead plugs installed at the factory to block off passages in the carb, they are a press fit. Sometimes you have to remove these to clean the passages. Found some online for .20 - .99 cents each, but shipping is $7, they must be crazier then me. I'm running a Tilly by the way. Anyway...anyone have any input? |
Re: Welch plug for carb Have you considered using material from a roll of solder? The 50/50 or 60/40?
|
Re: Welch plug for carb Was considering solder, but tapping in the correct plug would be so much better.
But may end up going that route. |
Re: Welch plug for carb If'n you use solder, make sure you use the type w/out a core.

Re: Welch plug for carb The are just plugs. The closest to welch plug would be the plug on the Tillys at the end of the throttle shaft. If they are solder, then someone must have been in there before, all the Zeniths I have seen are brass from the factory. I use the allen head set screws too. You can fill in the pocket as they get painted and no one but you will know.

Re: Welch plug for carb Welch plugs are round soft dish plugs for closing core holes in blocks and heads which most people call freeze plugs. Incidentally blocks and heads will crack before these plugs are forced out. There are welch plugs in Carburetors as well.

Re: Welch plug for carb I am also looking for the zenith throttle shaft brass welsh plug.
