Model A intake on a Model T Has anyone put a Model A Intake on a Model T? Will it fit or does it need to be modified?

Re: Model A intake on a Model T No way Jose. You would also have to change the exhaust manifold.

Re: Model A intake on a Model T You sure can! People have been doing it for years. It is such a popular conversion that Snyder's even offers a whole kit to do the conversion-see the links I have attached for the whole kit or just the adapter plate.
The main part you need is the special adapter plate, everything else is readily available new or used. Some people use the Model A exhaust, some people make headers. If you don't want to use a stock Model A manifold, you can even get a Model A down draft manifold, etc. etc. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...del-t/manifold https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...del-t/manifold |
Re: Model A intake on a Model T Thank you, I appreciate it very much. I will get the adapter and start on it. This is going to make things a lot easier for me.

Re: Model A intake on a Model T When I first got my 26 Roadster it had an A intake and carb. And I hated it. I constantly pulling and cleaning plugs. It also had 14mm plugs and I changed them to the OEM plugs but they too would fowl in no time. I finally collected enough parts to put the T intake back on and I’m a lot happier. The A set up did not give me any more power just more problems.

Re: Model A intake on a Model T You can use the 3 in one T copper faced gaskets and don't need the plate. The nice thing about the plate is that you can fit gland rings on both sides, but lots of people have done it without the plate. If you have a 26/27 with the tank in the cowl, good to go, but with the tank under the seat your fuel level is going to be lower then the carb most of the time unless you install a fuel pump or drop the carb down on a extension. You will also need to open the area where the manifolds slide on the 4 studs. You are also going to need to build a custom exhaust system.

Re: Model A intake on a Model T If you use a Model B exhaust manifold it has almost the same downward angle of the Model
T exhaust manifold. Check it out. You see them on eBay |
Re: Model A intake on a Model T On my 27 RPU, I had to make a heat shield for the sediment bowl when I did this, even with headed wrap on the B manifold.
With a Lizzard head and stipe cam it was scary fast! I pushed the levers up when the GPS hit 60, but we were still climbing! |

Re: Model A intake on a Model T Bob,
It was a Stipe 280. I've heard the Lizzard stories too but mine was great! I should've pulled it off before I sold the truck. R/ Roger. |
