My 1934 fordor sedan deluxe needed an ashtray lid but the hole in my dash is round and not the square shape thus the one I bought will not fit in. What was originally n there?

Not correct.Looks like some other ash tray was adapted to your dash,Also it appears to be a standard which did not have an ashtray anyway.Deluxe also have the cigar lighter between the choke and throttle rod holes.Your speedo is a standard also.

Bought the speedo on eBay and installed it my self so if it is not correct it's my fault although I don't know what a deluxe speedo would look like. It did have the holes for the cowl lights which I thought were only on deluxe only.

Speedo only has 3 trip mile digits . Deluxe had 4 . Dash is definitely a standard with a round hole cut in it . Pics are a deluxe 34 dash . The 2 holes partially covered by the radio head don't belong . The rest is stock .

Thanks guys, I'm a brass era guy and the v8 stuff is new to me. I bought this car because it was going to be chopped and turned into a hotrod. My intentions is to make this car correct for a Bonnie and Clyde car because I am a banjo player and was influnced by Earl Scruggs (foggy mountain breakdown Movie theme) when I was a kid so I want this to drive or trailer to bluegrass festivals, minus the bullet holes and bloodstains. I will post a different thread with pictures so you experts can dissect this car and tell what I need, Thank you!!

Re: 1934 ash tray hole

Given that it is likely that the dash wouldn't have been changed, the first kick at the can suggests that it is standard with cowl lights (an extra-cost dealer-installed accessory or possibly factory installed). To be sure though, there are other identifying characteristics between a standard and deluxe Fordor.

Is there any indication that the windshield was originally chrome plated? Does the back of the front seat have a robe rail attached? Is there an ash tray on one of the quarter trim panels? Are there assist straps attached to the interior side of the "C" pillars? Are there arm rests for the back seat? Lastly, a photo of the interior moldings around the door window openings would help further indicate whether it was originally a standard or deluxe version.

The garnish moulding on the door appears to be a Deluxe.

Really nice old Ford! Good luck with your project. Really strange to see that Standard dash in, what appears to be, a Deluxe car. But I've seen stranger things in these old Fords. Lol!
