Rattle Rattle...where be the rattle???????

For the longest time there was a small rattle inside passenger side, couldn't find it. I thought maybe it was the GAV rod, seemed to subside when grabbed, even Larry thought it was. I had earlier took off the kick panel to install sound proofing pads, nothing there to rattle. Took Sarah out last weekend and it started up again. This time I reached over and pushed in lightly on the door panel, it quit. HA HA!!!!...got back and was about to remove the door panel and I said, do I really want to do this, go there and it might not go back on as easy as it might come off? I said...NO. So a closer visual inspection revealed.....no upper window slide cushion on...either side. Got replacements today from Bert's and.....not a squeak!!!! ;) I'm beginning to become a full pledge 100% Model A Depot maintenance mechanic!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Good job. I still am unable to track down the vibration rattle coming from the engine side of the firewall near the steering column. Haven't had much time to look, as we added a new classic car to the stable, and have been working out the kinks on that.

If there are no rattles or funny noises you grabbed the keys to the wrong car. Can't be your Model A. Wayne

Finding a rattle and then eliminating it is both challenging and rewarding. Once I get one done I look for another. My cabriolet is now much quieter now that it is painted and upholstered, but still more to get rid of. Dynamat covering the inside of the body sheet metal helped a lot.

The lever on my generic turn signal vibrates a sound while going down the road. I have not got that one stopped yet.

Re: Rattle Rattle...where be the rattle???????

I got my "Mollie May" 1930 Tudor Sedan this past March. A couple months ago it started rattling from up under the hood somewhere. It would only do it after I was driving it an hour or so. It was loud and it was the sound like two pieces of metal rubbing together so I took a can of WD-40 and sprayed both left and right side cab mount to frame and so far cross my fingers it seemed to do the trick! Is there a 3rd.mount somewhere under there so I can get that lubed also? Jim

Well Larry, there couldn't have been a better day for a funeral, if there has to be one and I'm sure Bob had a long line of Model As following him to the graveside. RIP Bob..............

Just got back from the funeral - long day and sad but a great day too. Lots of memories for sure . We had lots of A's , one guys starter locked up so that only took me 30 seconds , another blew a head gasket on the way there so I ended up taking his back by trailer afterwards . I drove Bobs fordor and of course we had a horn send off at graveside

Get that rod rattle fixed now!!!
All the best!
Larry

Just remember, there was a small number of Model A's that used the leftover rattles from the Model T! Henry couldn't sell all of them to Chevrolet!

Spark and throttle rods hitting the inside of the steering column tube? Original installation had felt washers.
