Everyday driver insurance
 

I am considering making my 31 pick-up an everyday driver. Those of you out there that do use an "A" as an everyday driver, how did you handle the insurance? AAA, my modern car insurer, will not write comprehensive on a vehicle that old. My other A's are under J.C. Taylor but there are restrictions that limit use. I am interested in any comments on this subject.

I use state Farm. Unlimited driving and cheep. Had a local car dealer right up a value estimate for $16,000. Got extended antique plates good from april thru October. Store it for the winter. Other then that I drive it all I want no limits. I think I pay $137 for six months of insurance and $35 when in storage.

When I was driving mine, I assumed the responsibility of repairing it since I had already done a frame up restoration, so I only had collision on it to protect the other guy and pass the state law for having regular tags. That is one reason that I drove one, I can fix what ever happens to it but expect it to have small stuff happen to the paint etc. I would suggest putting seat belts in if you don't have them as probably the first thing that happens in an accident is for the doors to fly open.

I have Hagerty "Drivers Club"; use as a daily driver with unlimited emergency roadside service including guaranteed flatbed towing and other roadside services; collision for $30,000. After 3+ years no claims but peace of mind. Annual premium $571; worth the money.

Since there is no reliable book value, buy comprehensive as stated or assigned value.

Here in Canada I have Hagerty insurance, upon applying I could have up to 30K replacement cost with no appraisal . full glass and comprehensive . because I have a regular licence plate I have no restrictions . also in the package in the event of loss I have first option to buy back vehicle . the total was $350 per year .

Hagerty on my A, it's an everyday driver. 150. A year. Drive anywhere, for a long out of State trip I just call and say where I'm going.

I am in Arizona and Hagerty worked out great for me. Full coverage with a 20K value on my 1930 Tudor was only about $240 a year.
No hassle setting up and you set the value without having to get an "official appraisal" like my old ins. carrier wanted me to do when I was wanting to increase the value on my completed car.

I got one of my Model A's put on my regular policy as a daily driver with full coverage. I sent you an email with all the details. Please check your email box.

I have liability only on two cars for 288 dollars a year from Hagarty. They tell me I can drive it when I want and where I want.

I use my A for work, daily driver showing Real Estate and need got a large PLPD. I average 5000 + miles per year.
FYI, I also have the original plates that came with the car so no TAB fees
