clear red fuel lines, safe? I want to use the clear red fuel lines again for my twin carb setup, just wondering if they are as safe and durable as the tradition black rubber type. I got it from the old Hot Rod and Custom supply years ago when they were around and it faded really fast so I stopped using it. Who sells it now?

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? I don't think safety is a concern, but durability certainly is. Unless getting stuck in the backwoods with a clogged carb is a safety concern. Just buy lots of extra and change it at the first sign of deterioration.

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? I had bad luck with the clear stuff (discoloration, becomes weak), but mooneyes sells red fuel line that I've had much better luck with, on my third year and it looks/feels the same). I keep a close eye on it, definitely don't trust it as much as the black rubber stuff.

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? Tom, it looks pretty, BUT it's bad news, just like it was back in the 60's. A search supports this:

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? Be sure to buy a good fire extinguisher while you're at it.

Well, depends on how much value you place on your car (read: insurance:eek:), AND on your own safety. Read the thread toddle shows below....then do as you please,eh:) |
Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? Thanks to all for the input, last thing I want is to see my car go up in flames just because some detail looked cool!

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? The color red looks nice, but after they dry up, crack, you'll see the red again but it'll be with the end of fire extinguisher. BAD THOUGHT!

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? Speedway still sells it. I thought about it too but I remember it turning really hard, turning pink and sometimes cracking.

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? I put the red fuel line over a metal fuel line. It works! Gives the look and the safety.

Re: clear red fuel lines, safe? Now that's how you do it, cool idea!
