Re: some like the Indian Loving all these pictures. This one is great.
Thanks for posting. |
Re: some like the Indian I like them all. The first motorcycle I ever sat on was my Uncles ‘47 Indian, it was blue and white.
|
Re: some like the Indian When did they stop making Indian cycles?
|
Re: some like the Indian Indian also made a 4 cylinder motorcycle. I think it was in the late 40's. They also made some small ones called the Arrow and the Scout. The big bikes were the Chief.
|
Re: some like the Indian That picture is fake. Thats a newish repo photoshopped on an old picture. Note turn signals and telescopic fork. Real Indians quit about 54 or so, then they tried to stay afloat by selling Royal Enfields rebadged as Indians for a few more years. I had a 46 chief, and a WW2 scout for a while, like most my better junk I sold them before they got to valuable!

Re: some like the Indian 1 Attachment(s)
I know nothing about photoshop but I immediately recognized that the bike, the haircut and his boots were frome current times. I thought he may have parked in front of some kinda truck museum. This photo was taken by a friend at the antique tractor and machinery meet in 2021. There was some nut tooling around on this 4 cyl Indian. Rumor was this guy had recently escaped from the local mental institution. And I just noticed the two trucks in the background. What are the chances?

Re: some like the Indian I'd frame that picture, if the Indian wasn't in it. :)
|
Re: some like the Indian Only the Crocker conversions had OHV as far as I am aware. My old 47 Chief would roar with OHV.
|
Re: some like the Indian Never heard of a Crocker conversion. Made by Crocker Mc company?
Also...Great picture GB! |
Re: some like the Indian I've always wanted a 1946-1948 Indian Chief. I've wanted one since I was a kid, but I spent my money on old Fords instead.

Re: some like the Indian Thanks Pete, I now what those are, just never heard of heads for an Indian. Never seen a Crocker in the flesh either for that matter.

Since we've moved onto vintage 4 cylinder motorcycles don't forget the Ariel Square Four.

Re: some like the Indian My contractor neighbor took in a 1931 Indian when a customer could not pay his bill. The bike was like new. I did not like the backwards brake, shift and throttle. I rode it around the field behind our house. This was in 1956 when I was 16.

Pete, you're just knockin' 'em outa the park since you got back from vacation. Nice to have 'Pete the Enlarger' back in town. Here's my favorite old guy on a bike photo.

I have two other bikes now, 1979 XS650 and a 2007 Buell Ulysses. I sold my VStrom last year, great bike but four was too many. More of my stuff here. check out the videos.
