Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

So? Where DO you currently acquire a quality six volt flow through pump?
Please, current experience only. Like a lot of you, I'd purchased pumps years ago and blah, blah, blah.

History is no longer very significant when considering how things are manufactured now (typically like poopy)...

Thanks men.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

Airtex, through Amazon, but they are 4lb pressure. Contrary to popular belief, Airtex doesn't make a 2 pound pump.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

Assuming you want 6 volts. Here is one on Amazon.

Available from other vendors as well. My '39 p/u is 12 volts but I run a 12 volt Airtex just to prime the system after it sets for a while. Bought it at the local parts store but its a real parts store not a big box no nothing one.

We buy them at C&G 800/266-0470. Six volt: 11A9350-E-6. Output: 2.4-4 psi. 12 volt:11A-9350 E-12. Includes all necessary items such a a mount,
connectors and clamps. Good flow thru design.

Carquest auto has holley, what I run on the roadster. I also use a pressure valve set to 2 lbs. Currently 21 stud but have used it on the 59 AB. No problems here.

NAPA has a good 6 volt pump for about 85.00, however you will need a regulator!

I was very happy with the one I just bought a couple of weeks ago.

God bless

For what it's worth that style Airtex fuel pump was obsoleted many moons ago, according to the Airtex rep I spoke to. The present E8902 looks nothing like that, and it is 4 lb+. Airtex does not make a 2-3 lb pump. Never has.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

If you are just looking for a priming pump or something to push through a vapor lock the psi will not be a concern.

It is very difficult to find quality parts.

Since most installations are very visible, would there be a point reduction if it is judged?

Did the car come from the factory with an electric pump?

I believe Mike was trying to answer your question with subtle kindness, and maybe with a little humor mixed-in. I think it boils-down to the fact that Mikey's "new" book, which is pretty comprehensive, mentions nothing about an electric pump from the factory that I saw....."The Book" covering most of the criteria used when judging these old used cars. Okay, I thought my reply was simple enough to deduce the answer you were seeking. Let's go another route:
The car is supposed to judged as to the way it left the factory. If there was not an electric pump on the car when it left the factory, then there is a point deduction.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

John, Are you a member of the Early Ford V8 Club of America? If so, you may want to read the rules of the concourse. It's a quick read.
The summary? The car is judged against what it would have been when it left the factory and / or the dealership. There are exceptions. In example: a dealer often installed after-market accessories in order to boost profits. Sure, it left the dealer like that. However, the after-market accessories were not authorized by Ford and as such a deduction should be made for their inclusion now.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

The following is from the Early Ford V8 Club of America National Judging Instructions:
Electric Fuel Pump: There will no longer be a standard five (5) point deduction for the installation of an electric fuel pump on any Concourse displayed vehicle provided that the electric fuel pump has been neatly installed near the fuel tank and works as an integral component to the mechanical fuel pump installed on the engine. The electric fuel pump cannot be utilized as the sole source to supply fuel to the engine and/or installed in such a way as to bypass the mechanical fuel pump. (Effective change 2017).

Hope this helps. LouB.

It helps a little. It's total BS but yep, the club in their infinite wisdom decided it was okay to run an electric pump for guys that can't otherwise figure out how to get their vehicle to run properly with a stock pump and would cry if they didn't "win".

Still, an electric pump is an accessory and for THAT reason I deduct two points, the standard deduction for unauthorized accessories.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

I don't think EFV-8 club deducts points for seat belts or electic pumps anymore.

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

Scoffing at the use of an electric pump installed on seldom used/operated vehicles is not just "prudish" but simply ridiculous. This is especially true for 6V systems. Some of my units are not started for months. Dumping gas or spraying ether in a carb is not only less safe but certainly more troublesome. Apparently the EFV8 Club is reasonable enough to realize the facts.

We will need to agree to disagree. Many of my cars sit for months as well. With little more than 15 to 30 seconds of the starter turning and the choke pulled, they all start.
It really comes down to how well the vehicle was built and maintained.

I have NO issue with those that install electric pumps for any number of reasons. Hey, I say enjoy your car for all the time you are able.

I do take exception with those that don't want to or are unable to build their cars so as to operate as they were designed and still expect to "win" on the concourse.
We all have choices to make. One of those choices should never be "I can't "win" with the current rules so let's change them".

Re: Where do you CURRENTLY acquire a flow through electric fuel pump?

I agree with "Kube" on this. 35 years ago, when I first got my '51 and experienced some hard-starting problems, I installed an electric fuel pump.10 years later, when I finally figured out what makes these things tick, I removed it. I have never looked back.
