Newly acquired 32 coupe Hi, my name is Todd. I joined the forum a couple of years ago when I was looking for some information on my '39 Standard Coupe. I have always wanted a '32 3 window coupe and last week was able to purchase the car I wanted.
The previous owner had this car approximately 43 years. It was painted in the 1950's and has it's original interior. It has a 1937 engine and transmission and was converted to hydraulic brakes long ago. I intend to maintain the interior and exterior of the car in it's current condition and improve it's mechanical reliability.https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictu...ictureid=43820https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/pictu...ictureid=43822 |
Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Very nice! Congratulations.

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe 3 Attachment(s)
I hope you went out and bought a lottery ticket. Beautiful car. Check out the brakes carefully many of the early conversions left a lot to be desired. FYI attached is a picture of the master cylinder mount on mine.

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Charlie,
The brakes are the first thing I'm going to address. They work good, but pedal placement is off. I will be making a post on that soon. Are you happy with yours? Todd |
Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Dang! 3 window '32 Coupe. You've done good my friend! Congrats and enjoy it.

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe A lot of master cylinder conversion set ups aren't as elaborate as Charlie's is. Many early conversions just mount the master cylinder to a flat bracket on the back of the K-member. Make sure the wire wheels are mounted to the hubs/drums properly. They generally have ring spacers to give full seating of the wheel centers if the wheels are the old Ford types. Here is a link.

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe 1 Attachment(s)
A HAMB member in San Diego is doing these .Looks like a clean modification.
1932 Ford hydraulic brake master cylinder bracket. No drilling, no engineering, no welding, no cutting required when converting from mechanical to hydraulic brakes. Bracket mounts to k-member utilizing original holes and locates master cylinder utilizing original 32 pedals. Your brake pedal will need some modification |
Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Nice! Good Luck with it.
|
Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Todd, I'll add my congratulations to those above!! Your persistence has rewarded you big time!! She's a beautiful addition to your '39!!:)

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe 3 Attachment(s)
I have the original off my car. I will post when I can.
Edit Here are some pics. The original was damaged so I installed a later common handle |
Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe congratulations, I love it.

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe What everyone else said....

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Rotorwrench and Charlie - Thanks for the tip on the wheel spacers. I pulled one of the wheels off this morning to check and there weren't any spacers there. I'll get some on the way.
deuce_roadster - I met the previous owner about 6 years ago at a local car show when he was looking at my '39 Ford. I saw him again about 3 years ago and just happened to ask him if he knew anyone who had a '32 3 window. He told me he had one, but it wasn't for sale. He lives about 15 minutes from and I have gone to see the car a few times since then. When it came available I jumped on it. |

Have to agree. I understand tweaking the pedal positions but otherwise..... Do nothing! |

Re: Newly acquired 32 coupe Congrats on the 32. Your car is a beauty.
I recently purchased my 40 convertible from a friend of mine. He also had a 34 3 window for sale and I decided on the 40. |
