Green Wheels, Really??? Just throwing this out there. The wheels on my little Pick-up are grey. Now I know that was an original color for the P/U along with straw. The body is Ford Maroon with black fenders. BUT and that's a big wide but, it has White Walls that are staying on.
Now the thing is, I really like the Apple Green wheels. I know they are not 100% original but I'm not a purest. It has white walls for Pete's sake. At this time I really don't care what the purest think, I'm a Hot-Rodder and at lest didn't put a small block in it. So, pictures of Apple green wheels please. p.s. sorry if I offended anyone with these strange thoughts.:D:D:D |

Mine is almost a Model A. Brewster green with black fenders. Can you find someone that knows photoshop? If I had it to do over I would use black walls.

Re: Green Wheels, Really??? Maroon body and green wheels - gonna be like driving Christmas around :P
I like maroon cars, I like the green wheels - to me IMO red and green shouldn't be combined unless its a holiday decoration - it just looks off otherwise... |
Re: Green Wheels, Really??? I kinda like my apple Green wheels on my coupe. Go to my album "My Other Coupe" for a pic.

I love mine, I just did them!
My car had the Apple Green pin stripe already. I had the wheels sandblasted, $100 for 5 wheels. I then used Rustoleum self-etching primer (rattle can) Then sprayed the wheels with Fern Gloss Rustoleum (rattle can) that you can get at Walmart! Since you aren't a purist that should get you going. |

The whites came with the P/U and I have two other cars I'm working on so the money is tight for tires. Thanks for the Fern Green, it looks nice. I was thinking rattle can at first then if I really like them , Powder coat. ( if I don't like them , Straw yellow) For the record, the Ford Maroon is more of a brown then red. I only had 1 person at a the car shows know it was Maroon.
The major problem "I" have with the grey is they look like primer in pictures, and there is a lot of people taking pictures of the "Little Truck". In person they are shiny. Unlike our 57 or Camaro paint is cheap , chrome is not. Thanks all, some nice looking A's out there. Keep them coming.:) |
Re: Green Wheels, Really??? yea I can see how the grey wheels look like primer... I think Hyundai has a light grey color and if its cloudy it looks like the entire car is in primer...
On your truck my choice is yellow - maybe not the straw yellow which is kind of pastel colored but a bright sun yellow to give it some pop. |
Re: Green Wheels, Really??? I know a car that has GREEN wheels on the left & BLACK wheels on the right.
The purchasers' Wife sed, "$5.00 each to paint them? NOT ON MY SIDE"!! The car has been that way through 4 owners! Bill W. |

I just happen to have these photos of the car that Brother Bill referenced. The story is that the wife didn't drive and never got around to the driver's side. Russ

Re: Green Wheels, Really??? Green wheels on black or green car. Green wheels on maroon car will make people feel sick. They are just not complimentary colors.

I played around with green wheels for a couple years, just because the green wheels came with a set of tires I bought, but went back to the beige color when I got my 19" radials. I like them much better now.

Re: Green Wheels, Really??? The green wheel color that the Ford Motor Company used in the early '30's, was originally named for it's color - "Baby Shit Green".
However, the name "Baby Shit Green" was seen by some to be 'off putting', so the boys over at the Marketing and Sales Division quickly over-ruled the original name and renamed it to something that would be more appealing. Hence the name we now all now it by: "Apple Green" - so much more 'user friendly'. But I think the image of the initial description still fits the color. Luckily both my taste and my opinions (as my wife is fond of saying) "Ain't worth shit ! " So by all means - if you like it - wear it proudly ! |

Judging by rear rims in the second picture, you made the change from green to beige gradually. One wheel at a time or two? David Serrano |

Re: Green Wheels, Really??? Jason in TX, that is one sweet A. I love the planes behind it also, very cool.( been to Wright- Patterson museum many times )
I might just paint up two and see how she looks. Straw was an original color on the P/U and is choice number 2. Before I powder coat the wheels, I'll use a spray can. The whites will stay until after my wife's 69 resto-mod Camaro is done. The Maroon (brown to me) stays until after I'm gone. Thanks all, some very nice cars out there. I still love the green what ever it's called. Cheers:):):) |
