Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Ready to Rock-n-Roll............
Was able to do some things lastnight before bed, 11pm, was at it at 4am this morning, all done, tank full and just waiting for the weekend. Thought I'd re-photograph and show some of Larry's work. The Chicago Motor Club emblem has been straightened since this photo. http://i67.tinypic.com/9gg615.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/luq2q.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/rayvc1.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2jbk6ma.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/29ena1f.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/334ne4o.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2yngwmu.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/21c5tzq.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/313gigi.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/30jjijd.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/5x4bhd.jpg |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Gentlemen.....Sarah was real nasty underneath, over 40 years since last rebuilt and all the grease and grim proved it. The list is too long of all that Larry did this past winter and the winter before to post. I feel a whole lot more safer on the roads now than when I first adopted her.
Cheers............... Ed |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and A related story.......one of my grandfathers died in 63. I remember visiting him in St Louis as I was growing up. He smelled funny, to me as a kid, all musty and old, a different kind of musty though. I had forgot all about that until this morning when I opened up the ratten suitcase (1920/1930s) to bolt it to the carrier and that same smell hit me, so much I got goose bumps and had to look behind me. That smell wasn't there before.......

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and If anyone remembers earlier photos that showed the firewall, it was full of holes...not no more.

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and She's looking good Ed....

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and I have the same exhaust manifold on my A, What cover fits it. Thanks
|
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Very Nice. Now you have to bring her by and take me for a ride! Nice day today, It's 60°F out right now @ ~10:30 am

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and An Autolite heater cover will go on that manifold. Careful, they will roast you. Great looking car you got there. I am sure Sarah feels a whole lot better now.

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Stunning. I'm going to cover up my car to ease the pain of looking at it. Have a great weekend....

Got it from Bert's, original..and it will "roast" you out, I have to regulate it by window usage. http://i66.tinypic.com/effi9e.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/effi9e.jpg |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Thanks for the comments...got one problem...she dead as a doornail. Got nothing electrical. Have been charging the battery for an hour now and there is still not enough juice to even run the turn signals. Changed out the fuse even though the other fuse was good.

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Where did you get that tubing to go from the heater to the port in the firewall? I've never found material that I was happy with, and that looks pretty good.

Well, I'll have to sell Grit for five more reincarnated lives (again) to pay for her now, inflation!!!!:( |

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and I spot a reproduction cutout, I had one and it always stuck. I'd start there in looking for your current draw if it hasn't already been gutted for a diode. I use a diode cutout now.
I get the inflation... I'm pretty sure I paid more for a single tire than my granddad did for the whole car! (although he purchased it in the early 60's and it was a basket case then) |

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and I remember when doctors made house calls, Larry's a good man! That sucks that you'll have to wait one more day to get her out on the road. Lots of good people in the model a club!

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Sarah looked good before, but now, good God she's gorgeous.
I especially love the luggage, the suitcase and bag just set it all off...a travelling salesman. AKA - "Fuller brush man style" |

Nice looking items on Sarah :) |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Looks like you may have a registration problem. Your vehicle tag is for 35hp or less.
Nice car, enjoy. |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and great looking "A":)
question, isn't the A listed at 40HP:confused:, or is the taxi plaque subject to change? or in Chicago any thing goes? |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Is that HP SAE or brake?
|
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and Nice job Larry....
Enjoy the car Ed.... |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and glad it's doing well now. I guess we'll blame it on the cutout and ammeter stud. Parts I didn't replace. It now has a good original Ford Cutout ( later closed foot style) and is doing well.
I know the front shocks need completing. Thought I had a couple of the rubber balls required for those links and didn't.. so we'll take care of those in a couple of weeks when I do my checkup on Sarah. Head is now re-torqued a couple of times and should be good for the duration. Drive her and enjoy her! Larry Shepard |
Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and 31 Model A,
Just an observation for safe concerns, your pictures show your shocks are not hooked up. Any reason why? Also, the original instructions on using an Autolite heater, there is supposed to be a space between the heater cover and the inlet. This was to allow fresh air to blend with the hot air, so as I assume, you didn't barbeque the passengers feet or a multitude of other reasons. There never was suppose to be a direct conduit from the heater cover to the inlet for the Autolite. They are quite toasty and worked well in the winter in Flagstaff, Ariz. I really enjoy your car. |

Re: Rebuilt Returned Re-Waxed Re-Attached and '31 Model A - Can you explain the installation of your trunk carrier. I noticed that the wood is up with the suitcase on top of that. Others I have observed the wood does not show until the trunk is removed and carrier folded up. Is this trunk carrier different then the many parts houses sell?
