Got 30k Offer for my 1925 Model T Coupe - Is this fair?

My T has been fully restored, including new tires and upholstery, but has been sitting in my parent's garage undriven for about 14 years. I just got an offer for $30,000. Is this a good offer? If I were to publicly offer it for sale is there a good chance I could get more?

Thanks for your insights.

Len

That is higher than you will get by advertising it. If it is a real offer, you have done good !

Take cash or wait for the money to be fully cleared before you complete the transaction. Sounds too good.

SCAM. Is any T worth 30 grand?

Well, yes but it has to be a lot older. See;

The $30,000 offer could be a scam. Remember a check will not really clear at your bank for weeks.

Len, welcome, I see that this is your first post.
Many times questions like this have been posted with extremely good advice. Where are you located? Was the offer real or a pipe dream of an inexperienced buyer? If it was a rare T (brass town car fully restored/original) maybe it would be a fair offer. But a 25 T coupe is way too common to be that valuable. In any case, listen to the advise given above. Money has to clear before releasing. Be careful. Good luck.

Be Careful.... Lots of scams out there..... If it is too good to be true it generally is....Best of luck.....Move slowly and get another opinion...Big John...

Interesting, the guy joins a week ago, this is his first post, and he doesn't even have any information about himself in his profile. If it smells like fish it generally is.

I'm more concerned about the offer, than the guy selling, in his first post.
He might get a phoney payment for $30,000.00.

Re: Got 30k Offer for my 1925 Model T Coupe - Is this fair?

Hey guys,

Sorry I have not responded. I only posted this in two forums, but now I'm getting responses from three forums. So thought the other two were the one's I posted in.

The guy that made the offer is wealthy so maybe he can afford to make offers like this. He also knows I really didn't want to sell it (it was my Dad's that he finished restoring right before he died). He made the offer to my brother, and he's coming back to take a closer look, so guess I'll find out if the offer is for real very soon.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Yes, take the offer. Model T's are old but are not rare. Some body styles are rare and as stated if from the Brass era they might be worth that but not a 25 coupe.

Wow even if true you would have to tell him there isn't a 1925 Model T on earth more than a third of that. I say that not to denigrate your car-I own a 26 Model T and they are not all that valuable as the marketplace doesn't have a lot of interest in them.

Re: Got 30k Offer for my 1925 Model T Coupe - Is this fair?

I know you have reservations about selling the car but you will never have another opportunity to get 30 grand for the T.

Hold out for a cash payment before you hand over the car and title.HRP

Re: Got 30k Offer for my 1925 Model T Coupe - Is this fair?

I figured I should provide an epilogue to this story...

The guy said he would come by "in a day or two" to look at the T more closely. He said that three times over about a three week period. I haven't seen him since, and I'm done calling him. I think what might have happened is he made the ridiculous offer, then went home and actually did some Googling and realized his offer was way too high.

Anyway... I'm seriously considering putting it up for sale for $14,950, which would also include an extra engine, real end, spare body parts, and a large assortment of various smaller parts. And a couple driving lessons.

Thanks for your feedback. It was much appreciated.

$14950 or $15000 for a 25 Coupe is still far fetched. Good luck I indeed hope you get it. Wayne
