Ripped! I just went to order a part from Macs, price $1.95. It's just a little speedo cable clip for a T-bird, like a circlip. Weighs a gram. Shipping to New Zealand? $70 !!!!! They could have slipped it in an envelope and posted it! $2.
No thanks Macs. I've bought a fair bit of stuff from them over the last few years, but this has gotten ridiculous. |
Re: Ripped! That's 3589% (thirty-five hundred and eighty-nine PER CENT) for shipping...the epitome of insulting! DD

Re: Ripped! Try talking to a supervisor and not just an 'order taker'
As these aftermarket supply companies get larger they also get more stupid. I'm sure they have a standard procedure to follow with your order, and I'm just as sure there is someone there with common sense that can take your order offline and get it processed for something more reasonable. |
Re: Ripped! Ya, I agree with Scott. Talk to a supervisor. There's no way they could expect you to sa" Ya ship it to me" for that price!!!... Mark

Re: Ripped! That's just crazy.
|
Re: Ripped! if nothing else buy the part and have them ship it to me and I will put it in an envelope and sent it to you, let me know and I will email you my address
|
Re: Ripped! That is total insanity, they must have some real winners working there!
|
Re: Ripped! I know this is not as bad....but a $20 part in a very small box anywhere in the U.S. $6......I need it here in Canada........yup.....shipping $26......more that the price of the part!
|
Re: Ripped! That is the reason so many people on here complain about Macs and stopped doing business with them. They refuse to use common sense on shipping small stuff.
|
Re: Ripped! Is Mac's that way because they are Mac's or is it because it is now owned by a bigger company? Eckler's?

Re: Ripped! hey good news, a great relief to every one on here, and as I said if need be send me the part and I will send it on to you, I know how they rip you off on parts shipping

Re: Ripped! Just to let others know ....
Macs and Speedway are the same as far as shipping goes... very expensive. Reds, Snyders, C&G, Dashman, NJParts are all very good at pricing for the size and weight. I should point out that I live in New Zealand, so shipping cost is ALWAYS going to be high. Incidentally, I have found that Speedway products sold on Ebay carry a much more reasonable shipping rate. Somehow, their Ebay shop works on a completely different set of rules to their regular online shop. How the heck does that work? |
Re: Ripped! To me macs has gotten better with shipping. Price okay not great, but the time has increased a bunch. I'd order, a few years ago, and wait a month or more. Now much better. It's always costly to order a small part alone, but that is crazy even for you guys down under.
Maybe hook up with a state side guy to send it on. |
Re: Ripped! They most likely will charge you 15 -20 dollars to ship to you.

Re: Ripped! That's a shocker! I've just ordered a pack of stuff from them , a hood liner and a few other bits also into Napier the initial estimate being $70 . I will use my own account with TNT or Dhl if they try that on me but if the estimate holds true that's reasonable, let's see what happens.

Re: Ripped! Had the same problem with Macs and a few others the last year or so
been getting good service from the UK suppliers got a bearing set shipped from the UK to Australia for $12.00 quote from Macs, Speedway was $95.00 the bearings did cost $ 2.00 more |

Re: Ripped! Bassman - it doesnt help that USPS's International Mail Small Flat Rate BNox has been discontinued.
Before I "check out" in my order with Speedway, I stipulate HOW I want it shipped ie: USPS....and they will accommodate when charging you. I usually cut n paste the USPS quote in the comments section and the shipping price is confirmed on my order. Works for me ;) BFD |
Re: Ripped! I've noticed some business's like Speedway seem to have minimum shipping charge. They say no handling charge but I think it's built in?

Re: Ripped! I bought two repo bumpers from Speedway & free shipping. Watch for their sales if you do not need the parts pronto.
Pretty nice bumpers & way cheaper than having mine re chromed & worrying about the chrome shop loosing them. Paid a little extra for the good ones as they have a less expensive one. Had a nightmare with a shop on my 57 bird stuff. They didn't show up when they were supposed to so I called & he says let me look . He says I can't find them anyplace let me call you back. A day later he calls & said he found them waaay in the back against the wall. They chromed the stuff & when the trucker delivered them (7 bumper pieces) I opened then box & they were black & never polished. I returned them & they finally got it right. This was a high dollar shop in the Fresno area that did Jag & Mercedes stuff. They came highly recommended also |

Re: Ripped! I tried to ship some headers back east from Calif. They wanted $93.00. Oversize, fuel surcharges, ext. These guys are way out of control. UPS and FedEX raised their prices 10% a while back supposedly to cover the increased fuel costs. When the costs went back down the rates did not. Now I see on Bloomberg they are raising the rates another 10%. Shipping companies are now like the cable TV companies. They are about making profits not providing service. It is as simple as that. Whenever Wall Street or Washington get involved it gets ruined.

Re: Ripped! If you can look into shipping Bus Freighter.com. They are they best I have found on shipping large items. You just need to have a Greyhound terminal near & they do have a limit on size & weight. Had 2 32 fenders shipped from Pittsburgh to Or for $62.00 & they arrived two days later.
