$$$$ worth $$$$ What Is This Car Worth ?
1931 Ford Model A 5-window Coupe with rumble seat. Original-style Ford colors of yellow body, black bumpers, and brown cloth interior. Driven 10 miles since total restoration about six years ago. Always covered and garaged in smoke-free environment since restoration. Interior headliner needs replacing. Turn signals added at restoration. Car has been in seller's family since purchase in 1957 in Shreveport, LA. Car was driven to high school by the seller in the 1960s. Buyer responsible for vehicle pickup THANK YOU For YOUR Info Harley03joe http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled6.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled2.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled5.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled4.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled3.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...y03joe/_12.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Untitled8.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/Untitled.jpg |
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Advertisements should go in the Swap Meet section.
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ I wonder if he is asking how much it is worth because he is considering buying it? I am sure if it was for sale he would have put it in the for sale section.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Black bumpers, incorrect body colors, lack of pinstripe, maybe missing radiator emblem, roadster top supports, and replacement ignition cable call into question what else was done incorrectly in the "total restoration six years ago." Lacking photos of the undercarriage, interior, dash panel, and right side of the engine compartment, as well as any knowledge of whether the engine was rebuilt and by whom, I would put the value at about $9000 in Portland.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Nice driver in Michigan would be in the 10K range. Jazzy color, but not factory available back in the day.
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ I would say 10 k up
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ It's about a ten grand car, a driver that will stay as it is, to buy it with the idea of correcting all the flaws would be a bad investment. Bob
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ I don't see the indented fire wall for the gas shut off. I thought all 31's had that.
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Maybe a bit over $10.00
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ The early 31 cars didn't have the indented firewall. I think that the indented firewall started around may 31. It may have been a little earlier but that gives an idea of about when the indented firewall started. I don't think that the question is whether its a perfect show car, but what price that it may bring. It looks good for a driver. The hot rod guys would probably pay the most as the body would be desireable. I figure that the seller will ask at least twelve thousand or more. Coupes are still fairly plentiful and eight to ten thousand is probably about what it would bring, It would cost more to duplicate it but model A people are mostly tight.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ I recently purchased one in the Detroit area for $8000 and it was an older correct restoration with new Goodyears and paint. So in my opinion he should be happy with $8000 !

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ looks like they tried painting it bronson yellow and seal brown. Not right for a coupe, but they are model a colors. Ill agree with 10,000-11,000 if it runs and drives well. Its a presentable car, just not 100% correct. looks like a good car for someone who just wants to get in one and have fun with it.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Now that you mention that, if you can picture the wheels painted orange, it would look a lot better, not "correct" for the correct people but a lot better. Bob

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ 1 Attachment(s)
I went to an auction in Southwest Michigan recently and the car attached in the photo went for $25,000!! Way over what I thought it would go for. Guess a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. This owner was in our local club and had passed away in 1999. Car was driven maybe 5 times since then.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ On the subject, are late 31' with the indented firewall on average considered worth more?
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ As for the yellow car, $13k-$15k would be a deal.
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ very nice car . politically not correct but who really cares . 10 - 15 k ........ all day

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Is it worth more if it's from a "smoke free" enviornment?
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Looks like $10-12K here. Nice driver.
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ I wouldn't pay over 8k...
|
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ The bumpers are NOT black. I believe that it should have said BLACK FENDERS.
It is worth whatever someone is willing to sell/buy it. Bob |

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ The coupes are hot sellers, I missed two on craigslist recently. One was 8k other was 9k gone within an hour of posting. Hopefully they are high enough in price that they dont end up like this coupe. Shame to start with such a gorgeous car. http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...trods/_573.jpg

(Referring to the chop job) The Yellow coupe looks like a nice car. Great driver! |
Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Roadster top supports are what some call grab handles on the tops of the quarter panels. These were standard equipment on roadsters to support the top when it was let down. These parts are often installed on coupes with rumble seats as grab handles. Yhe VIN is on the frame, under the body and splash apron on the drivers side near the rear motor mount block. The body will usually need to be removed to confirm the number.

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Joe, Glad you bought it and are very proud of it. If this is your first one you have a lot to learn and this is a great place to start. Welcome aboard. Also your engine block on drivers side will have a number, mine was same as title and vin # Yours may not, not biggie if not. Cool car

Re: $$$$ worth $$$$ Quote:
When you bought the car did someone point to a number that matched the paperwork? They used to use engine numbers but the DMV's are getting away from that. There may be a tag installed by the DMV on the door jam. Roadster top supports, which are frequently called grab handles because they is what they are often used for, support the roadster top and keep it off of the paint when the top is folded down. They are not "correct" as something that came from the factory on a coupe but frequently installed to be used as grab handles when getting in and out off the rumble seat. Charlie Stephens |
