Reintroducing my Model A

Hello all, just reintroducing myself and my Model A, I shared this picture about 2 years ago but just wanted to update the progress on it, my family picked this 29 roadster up 2 years ago, and 2 years later this is progress on it. I thought it deserved to get showed off a little bit.... More pictures to follow. :)

I have a very early 29 rumbull seat roadster. so early it has a lot of 28 parts on it. I haven't seen that part you show. You have me scratching my head. Now you know tomorrow I will be out in the shop looking around in the rumbull seat area for it!!! :)

Re: Reintroducing my Model A

Thanks for the like on the color 700 RPM, there's a story on that color, I was going for the darker stock brown, but lets just say there was an accident at the paint shop and this is was it. But after awhile we started liking it better so we stayed with it. Lesson learned anyway, cheaper the estimate on the work, more problems your gonna have.

Been awhile, but still here and still working on the 29 A, after 3 days of no luck of starting the car, I finally got it going, turned out that the AMP meter has to be wired as well. After that, it started right up. Here's a youtube link if anyone is interested in see it. Thanks.

The part you show are called deck lid aligning wedges, two are used, they fit in the trunk lid rain gutter area, but I see you have a rumble lid configuration, that being the case there are two wedges used in theupper part of the rain gutter that are rectangular in shape held on by a flat head screw and nut. Vendors have them.

What paint color is that, exactly, and and in what direction did it go "wrong?"

It was suppose to be the standard 29 Thorne Brown which is a lot darker then this. But some how the paint shop ended up with this color. We decided we liked it better so we kept it.

Re: Reintroducing my Model A

the half moon parts go at the bottom of the corners for a deck lid the ones for a rumble lid are square and go in the top corners . look in one of the parts books from snyders and you will see

More process on the A, for Christmas it got seats and side panels, and fenders attached! I see that first drive just around the bend!

Re: Reintroducing my Model A

Nice work and nice colour. Like they say, "Do it right, do it once"
That said, I would have repaired a car like this, not restored it and driven it with all of its patina.
We are envious of you guys because cars like this NEVER turn up here and I'd nearly trade my first born for one.
Don't let my daughter see this pleeeaaase!

Thanks for the comments guys. This car was not a barn find though, we bought this car from a guy who wills and deals with Model A Fords and all what he does is takes spare parts and just puts them together. He didn't even have the decency to take the birds nest out of the water pump before he put the engine together. Here are some pictures before he sold it to me and as you can see in the one picture of the snow covered A's in the back ground. Poor A's :(

Still here and slowly but surely the A will get done, we went for our first ride a few months ago, runs wells and shifts very nice. Since we replaced all of the engine mounts and added the small front engine spring in front (didnt have one before) it takes off just smooth as smooth, no more chattering. :).. The only thing is about after 10 minutes of each ride the car starts to boil, i read some where that it might be a bad head gasket? The engine only got a valve job and new water pump and that was it. Also we finally got the head lights for it rebuilt, dad didn't want the chrome ones so we got the old ones re-nickle and put back together. Heres some pictures.

Re: Reintroducing my Model A

Eliminate a cracked block(water in the oil) when you pull the head.
The boiling sounds familiar.

Finally got the lights to work the other day, pretty easy really just some finicking with wire ends thats all.

Got home the other night from work and found my dad joy riding in it late last night in the big parking lot next door. Those bulbs are supper bight for being on the 6 volt system! Just saying.

After all the issues that we have had with this car the last few years, from pulling the engine 3 times, body pans welded on worng, doors not closing due to bent hinges, the family has decided to call this car Rose, she looks pretty but she has thorns.
