Changed the oil & filter, installed new plugs, cut excess park brake cable( had to make my own rear cable set), cleaned off the auto trans id plate so I can order a new pan gasket. Started the engine and let it warm up. Everything done in the yard, up on Jack stands. Got my exercise, but my wife says I don't walk enough... I'll be 80 this fall. Ha Ha!! JPL

I woke our 38 convertible coupe up from a long winters nap; hooked battery up; put a little gas in carb, started right up, went for a warm up drive, aired up tires, and cleaned white walls; ready for AUburn

The Luray pre-war swap meet is just over a week away. I've been working hard to get a batch of rebuilt generators and refurbished cutouts ready to bring. I just started on another batch of cutouts tonight.

This is one of the best small swap meets on the east coast. So who is going? I'll have my table set up at Wick's spot along the treeline. Stop by and say high.

Nobody working on a flathead V8 lately? I just got back from Luray where I sold some '35 Ford parts and refurbished original Ford cutouts.

Just put some new front wheel cylinders on my 41 pickup. Rear ones will be done when the new ones get here.

Last week I helped swap the banjo section, ring & pinion, on a 40 pickup axle. The pins holding the coupler to the driveshaft and pinion had snapped due to worn out splines (the pins were taking the driving load and failed). We replaced the 4.11 with worn out splines for 3.78 with nice splines, good teeth, and nice bearings.

I just posted a new video about installing and seating generator brushes. The example is for a model A generator, but the same process applies to flathead V8s. Some of you may find it helpful. There are many other generator related videos on my youtube channel as well.

I am Slowly putting this one together to go into a "restoration" project in Holland via a restoration shop in Poland. Started to assemble this past weekend and working on it night by night.

What about a 1941 4cyl....is that allowed???

May I ask what you sprayed on the engine (looks like 2 different things) prior to applying the finish coat? Thanks.

Dale

My ol' flathead is just running so well that all I do is drive it! :D That reminds me-it's oil change time again.

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

I just got back from Florida and found the battery in my '51 was dead (the battery tender somehow got disconnected when I let the hood down last fall). I hooked up an old style charger (the maintainer wouldn't start) and am hoping it'll come back. With the price of Optima's these day, I hope it's not kaput.

I just finished rebuilding this really nice, original paint 1940 generator. I'll be bringing it and other rebuilt generators and cutouts to the Richmond Virginia AACA meet this Saturday.
