Re: My new Model A pickup 2 Attachment(s)
Here is the truck now. The out side is just about done. Still need some head light parts.

Re: My new Model A pickup You must be getting tired of questions but, I have an engine that has sat out like yours how did you free up the pistons etc. No penetration solution seems to touch mine. The pistons are stuck and who knows what else. Jack

Re: My new Model A pickup Try a 50/50 mix of ATF and Acetone, pour it into the cyls, let soak, repeat. FWIW

Re: My new Model A pickup George, Just want to give you a thumbs up!

Re: My new Model A pickup Quote:
If your engine is not to bad, use some kind of penetrating oil in the cylinders. In the past I made a tool out of a old starter, put a nut on the shaft, bolted in place of the starter. Then turned it with a big wrench. That broke it loose. |
Re: My new Model A pickup Are you going to do anything to the frame for strength? I just bought a 1930 closed cab last month. First problem was shearing an axle key as the castle nuts were too loose! Has Hydraulic brakes from a 1946 Ford pickup.

Re: My new Model A pickup 3 Attachment(s)
VERY NICE! love it. I've been building a 28 pickup from parts here and there. I picked up the body last month. I was amazed that it all fit into the bed of my truck when disassembled. My buddy's and I started working on it and there were some really rough areas so we decided to make it a roadster. The cab is 80% done but the build has been put on hold for right now as the wife got a new job in Winston Salem two months ago and moved down from Ohio. I've been back here getting the house ready for sale and it sold within two hours of hitting the market! We're looking at a house in Walkertown, NC that has an awesome garage! Hopefully we'll be all moved in by the end of September so I can finish the build. Looks like I'll be in the company of a bunch of model A'rs!

Re: My new Model A pickup You will make it, moves are tough. I just moved 420 miles. It took 2 - 26ft Penske trucks, 2- 16ft Budget trucks, 2 trips with an enclosed 24 ft trailer, 2 trips with a 10ft enclosed trailer, a 10' open trailer and about 10 trips with a pickup truck to get everything of mine moved. None of that is counting the 17 vehicles moved as well. My new shop won't be functional for some time. I'm building a new house first. So your move seems easy :) But really none are, good luck.

Re: My new Model A pickup Here is the last picture of my pickup. It is mostly done, just needs door glass and two hub caps.
It is set up for a original engine or a 39 flat head ford V8. The fenders are a dark blue, although it does not look that way in the picture. |
Re: My new Model A pickup 1 Attachment(s)
Forgot the picture.

Re: My new Model A pickup 1 Attachment(s)
Nice looking truck you are making great progress. When I saw you called it new I was hoping you went as new as I did. The roadster pickup is all reproduction parts with an automatic transmission. I did use an original engine because Terry Burtz hasn't finished the new Model A engine.

Re: My new Model A pickup Just for the record. This truck is now running the Model A 4 cylinder engine. I sold the 239 V8. I did make a intake for the 4 cylinder and it is using a 239 Ford V8 carb. Runs very strong. It also has 7-1 BF head, big intake valves, counter balanced crank. Also it is running a F150 4 speed transmission with overdrive now.
I sold the V8. It is being used in a 1930 coupe. |
Re: My new Model A pickup Nice job! Gives me a little inspiration for the one i just picked up. I got a little work ahead of me.

Re: My new Model A pickup It looks solid, mainly surface rust. Some wax and spit shine it up. Keep us posted, have fun! May I suggest starting your own thread, good luck!
