Re: She stayed in the rumble seat too long I once gave an older lady a ride in my 1930 Coupe with a rumble seat at the Iola Old Car Show. She was very knowledgeable about Model As. She told me that she often double dated and rode in the rumble seat. I was a bit hesitant but asked her anyway how could anyone "Rumble" in the rumble seat as there is not enough room. She looked at me, giggled, smiled, and said "You'd be amazed" She looked away and kept giggling. That memory will always make me giggle a bit but for a different reason.

Re: She stayed in the rumble seat too long i am 21 & do not even know what this is?
i do know one thing though, she jumped out of the seat too soon while the car was still moving & that was how her clothes got ripped. |

Re: She stayed in the rumble seat too long It is important to note - that if that woman had not "Stayed in the Rumble Seat too long !" - I would not be here ! ! !
|
She stayed in the rumble seat too long Not by accident, but the 'Rumble Seat' was also often called "The Mother-in-Law Seat". That was before late '31 - when the rear window DID NOT roll down, and all her 'pearls of wisdom' were left 'blowin' in the wind'.
|
She stayed in the rumble seat too long Yet one more bit of trivia, now long lost: for those who insist in both 'spooning' and in inter-active living-history - you should know that while in the Front Seat - there can still be room for 'action'. The gear shift stick, while normally in the way, can be, with a little bit of manly force, pulled up and turned out of the way - clearing the way for more manly manuveuring.
There is a lot of history that has not made it into books ! |
Re: She stayed in the rumble seat too long I shall evert my eyes at the proper moment!!!!

This reminds me of the time I was washing my 1929 Standard Coupe with Rumble Seat at a car wash in Chico, California back in 1982. All of a sudden this 80 year old lady came by and noticed the car and came over to look at it. She asked me if it had a rumble seat and I said yes, would you like to see it? She said "Oh yes". So I opened the deck lid and she showed me a big smile. She said "Sonny...The stories I could tell you about that rumble seat!". I said "Mamm, there is no doubt you surely could". Hmmmmmmm...Maybe she is the lady in the picture! Pluck |
