Solid rods are much easier to punch out enough to get a hold of when trying to remove .

Yes, very true however one trick to make it a tad easier is to thread a tap into the end creating an internal plug. Then use a long rod inserted thru the opposite end and rattle the rod out with an air hammer or rivet gun.

I was told the only other places that used that 3/8 OD seamed tubing was the light switch rod and the choke sleeve.

Thanks Brent! Will file that one away for later date with an upper hood rod.
